Lots of campers and RVers travel with their pets these days and we know how rewarding the experience can be. Your pets are part of your family and we want to give you some tips to make the trip a wonderful one for the people and the pets in your family.

The campground can be an unfamiliar place to your pet and that can create anxiety for them. You can assist them in having a relaxed camping stay by keeping them near you at all times. The sights, sounds, and smells of the campground are all new to your pet but they feel safe with you so try not to leave them alone on your campsite if you can help it.
Bring all their favorite toys and their most loved bed from home. The familiarity of their scent on the bed and having their beloved toys along with them will help to make any new environment feel more like home.
If they are on prescription medication be sure to bring enough to last during your camping stay and even a little more than needed. You never know when you might decide to extend your trip so having extra doses of your pet’s medication will keep you from running out.
Take your pet for a walk around the campsite, the area, and the whole campground. This will help to acclimate them to their new surroundings and all the unfamiliar things they are picking up on. You might like to do this in the early morning hours while many of the other campers are still sleeping or are slowly beginning to move around their campsite.
